July 28, 2020 (San Francisco) - The Padres are doing well so far, but that’s probably because it’s a shorter season.  Tonight, they faced off against the Giants in game one of a three-game series, which was also the Giants’ home opener.  Jeff Samardzija started for the Giants against Zach Davies.

July 17, 2020 (San Diego) -- The San Diego Padres have released a schedule for an abbreviated 60-game 2020 baesball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The  Padres' home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks is slated for July 24, with the season's final game September 27.  View schedule

Seeking to beef up the bullpen, the Padres recently acquired left-handed pitcher Tim Hill from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Franchy Cordero and right-handed pitcher Ronald Bolaños.

June 25, 2020 (San Diego) - Padres fans may soon have something to cheer about.

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred has announced that the MLB will officially begin a 60-day season, starting around July 24, according to ESPN.

July 12, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego Padres announced today they have agreed to terms with four additional players from the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft prior to today’s deadline: RHP Drake Fellows (6th rd.), LHP Mason Feole (11th rd.), LHP Bodi Rascon (14th rd.) and C Jared Alvarez-Lopez (17th rd.).  In addition, the Padres have also signed Helix alum Jack Stronach (21st rd.)

June 22, 2019 (Pittsburgh) - The Padres left San Diego for Pittsburgh yesterday, losing 2-1 to the Pirates.  Chris Paddack started today’s game two against Chris Archer for Pittsburgh.

 

After a slight pitchers’ duel, Manny Machado launched a solo homer in the fourth to left field to give the Padres a 1-0 lead after four.

May 20, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Alumni of East County high schools are finding their marks in the major leagues and in college baseball this week.

Two former East County alums made waves for the Padres.  Valhalla Norseman alum Greg Garcia went 1 for 3 with a double and one run scored for the Padres as they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 on Sunday. 

Former Grossmont Foothiller Joe Musgrove improved his record to 3-4 as he pitched 6.1 innings and gave up four hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and four strikeouts for the Bucs.
