August 31, 2018 (Berkeley) - San Diego State fell behind early and could not recover in what ended as a 3-1 road loss at California on Friday afternoon inside Edwards Stadium. The Aztecs drop to 1-3 on the year, while the Golden Bears improve to 3-1.

August 26, 2018 (Long Beach) - San Diego State took its first road trip of the season and suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Long Beach State Sunday night at George Allen Field. The Aztecs’ dropped to 1-2 on the year, while the 49ers improved to 3-1 in 2018.

August 24, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State fell behind early and cut its deficit in half right before intermission, but could not find the equalizer in the second period of a 2-1 home loss to Texas Tech. The Aztecs dropped their first game of the season to move to 1-1, while the Red Raiders won for the third time in three tries.

August 24, 2018 (Santa Clara) - The San Diego State men’s soccer team fell in their season opener 2-0 at Santa Clara Friday evening. The Broncos scored the game-winning goal on a PK in the 64th minute and then added an insurance goal in the 88th minute.

August 18, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State men’s soccer team closed out their preseason with a 1-0 shutout at Point Loma Nazarene Saturday  evening. Robby Jacobs had the game winning goal in the 54th minute, finishing a beautiful assist from Adam Vargas.

August 18, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State overcame an early dose of adversity and its resilience ultimately paid dividends in the end as it defeated New Mexico State, 1-0, in its season opener on Friday night atop SDSU Sports Deck. The Aztecs moved to 1-0 on the year, while the Aggies dropped to 0-1.

The defending Mountain West champions will be in action for the first time on Friday, Aug. 10, for an exhibition and highlighting the schedule are 10 games in which the Aztecs will be the designated home team.

July 19, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State men’s soccer head coach Lev Kirshner has revealed the Aztecs’ schedule for the upcoming 2018 season. SDSU will have seven matches against teams that reached the 2017 NCAA tournament, including two dates with Stanford, the 2017 national champion. Their season kicks off August 24 at Santa Clara.

March 2, 2018 (San Diego) - Steele Canyon.  Eastlake.  Spring Valley.  Chula Vista.  Both making the trek to inner city San Diego to Mission Bay High School for the CIF Open Division Championship.  The Cougars finished the season 12-6-6 overall and 3-2-3 in the Grossmont League.  Compare that to the Titans’ 18-5-3 overall record and impressive undefeated 9-0 record in league, and this was sure to be a wild ride.

ONE WORLD SOCCER FEST: JULY 11 AT SANTEE SPORTSPLEX USA

 

June 25, 2015 (Santee) -- With the slogan "changing lives one goal at a time" the One World Soccer Fest will kick off at the Sportsplex USA Santee (9851 Riverwalk Drive, Santee) on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the Chisomo Idea and the Homeless World Cup.  Soccer carnival games and a mini soccer clinic are all part of the day's fun, as well as viewing a round-robin soccer tournament.

January 14, 2012 (Santee) – On Monday, January 23, 2012 Sportsplex USA president Bill Berghoff will make a donation to the Santee School District Foundation in the amount of $1440.  Sportsplex USA and the Santee School District Foundation (SSDF) have partnered with the goal of offering affordable youth indoor soccer programs to all parents and children in Santee.

LA MESA ATHLETE GOES DUTCH TO PLAY JAPAN ON JUNE 19TH

 June 16, 2011 (La Mesa)Chris Ahrens is a school teacher and an elite athlete. For months on end he has trained long hours in preparation for this month’s world championships in his sport. 

 

His team departed on June 13th for the 2011 CPISRA Football 7-a-side World Championships in the Netherlands (that’s soccer, to you and me). Ahrens is a defender for the U.S. team.

U.S. TIES CHILE 1-1 IN INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY SOCCER MATCH

January 22, 2011 (Carson, Calif.) – The U.S. Men's National Team (MNT) tied Chile 1-1 in an international friendly match played at The Home Depot Center (HDC) in Carson, Calif. Both teams fielded their third-string teams in a contest that showcased some of the best new young talent from both countries. The 18,850 fans set an attendance record for largest crowd for an MNT friendly at the HDC.

Poway's Marvell Wynne played the second half of the match. Wynne (son of the former San Diego Padres player Marvell Wynne) has earned five career caps with the full national team.

SOCCER MATCHES HIGHLIGHT OPENING WEEK OF SAN DIEGO SENIOR OLYMPICS

September 10, 2010 (San Diego) - If you think that you are too old to be active, you won't find much sympathy from this crowd. Over 100 players ages 50 and older from throughout the County played a series of soccer matches last weekend (9/4-5) at the Chargers' former practice field in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot. The featured game was a championship in the age 60+ group between the U.S. and South Korean teams. Teams participated in 8-on-8 as well as fully-configured 11-on-11 matches.
