March 23, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego Harp Society will hold its annual advanced students harp recital at the Mission Trails Church, 4880 Zion Avenue, San Diego 92120 on April 14th from 3 - 4 p.m.  This is a free concert (for donations) and every dollar collected goes directly to the San Diego Harp Society.  Second Sunday Community Concerts and the Mission Trails Church do not take any donated money.

March 17, 2019 (Lakeside) -- Two San Diego cultural institutions have been honored nationally by one of the country’s premiere federal arts organizations.  The Barona Cultural Center & Museum in Lakeside and the New Children’s Museum have been selected as two of 30 finalists for the prestigious National Medal for Museum and Library Service Award presented by the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) in Washington, DC.

March 13, 2019 (Spring Valley) -- London stage actor, Dean Chisnall, visited Steele Canyon Charter High School March 7 through March 9 to help prepare the school’s theatre and music departments for their own production of the award-winning hit, Les Misérables, premiering March 20th.  Over two and a half days, Chisnall worked closely with SCHS Theatre Director, Nicole LaBella and Music Director, Heather Luck to coach the cast, crew and orchestra.

March 11, 2019 (La Mesa) – The Wheelchair Dancers Organization is offering free wheelchair dancers classes in ballroom and Latin dance on Monday nights from March 11 through April 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  Classes will be at the Grossmont Hospital Conference Center (enter through the Rehabilitation Center) at 5555 Grossmont Center Drive in La Mesa.

March 3, 2019 (La Mesa) - From Beauty and the Beast’s hauntingly melancholic “If I Can’t Love Her” to the impassioned spirituality of Vaughn-Williams “Five Mystical Songs,” noted baritone Bill Marshall “sings it all!”  Think the exuberant “They Call the Wind Maria” from Paint Your Wagon and Theodore Roethke’s disturbing tale, “My Papa’s Waltz.” All these and more will be showcased when Marshall, accompanied by Jim Tompkins-MacLaine,  appears as featured artist in program eight of East County’s popular Valerie Victor Concert Series. The concert will be held Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at The Table: United Church of Christ of La Mesa, 5940 Kelton Ave., La Mesa.

February 22, 2019 (Lemon Grove) -- Passion for the Arts will present Cinderella at the First Baptist Church of Lemon Grove (2910 Main St., Lemon Grove) May 3-5.  The retelling of the fantasy tale will be more closely based on the novel than the Disney version.

An Evening with Dean Chisnall” benefit night for San Diego County theater students at Steele Canyon High School on the evening of Thursday, March 7 @ 7:00pm.  “I’m so excited and honoured to come to Steele Canyon - it’s a huge privilege to be invited to share my passion with such like minded students and staff. February 2, 2019 (Santee) – Off Broadway Live in Santee will donate all proceeds from its March 24^th, 3 p.m. showing of “The Bridge” to benefit homeless kids at teens at Father Joe’s Villages.

The musical focuses on six people whose lives were forever changed by what happened one night on a bridge.  The bridge knows their secrets, and at a reunion of their high school football championship season, everyone will be there—and the bridge is waiting.
