April 19, 2012 (Santee) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle unit is continuing law enforcement's efforts to curb distracted driving. During the month of April, which has been designated "National Distracted Driving Month," extra patrols are out in force in the County of San Diego. Yesterday the motor unit concentrated their efforts in the City of Santee. Between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., motorcycle deputies wrote a total of 85 citations; 25 of which were for using a cell phone while driving and 38 were for speeding.
In collaboration with Jewish World Watch, San Diego Jewish Academy will hold a Walk to End Genocide, which is being organized by a group of ninth and tenth grade students. The walk is being held to raise awareness about the mass atrocities occurring in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

April 18, 2012 (San Diego) -- The exact distance from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, Calif. to the University of San Diego is 14.7 miles. The former is where USD senior first baseman Bryan Haar made a name for himself as one of best high school baseball players in San Diego County; the latter is where Haar is making a name for himself by helping lead the 19th-ranked college baseball team in the nation to what many hope is a berth in the College World Series.

April 18, 2012 (San Diego) – State Senator Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego) has introduced SB 1537 to halt efforts by utiliy companies to jack up rates on solar energy producers as much as 600%.
Daniel Sullivan, president of Sullivan Solar Power in San Diego, says that utilities in alifornia have "launched an offensive on solar producers led by San Diego Gas and Electric. SDG&E has unfairly targeted commercial solar producers by proposing to increase the demand electricity rates they pay by as much as 600%, but only increasing the demand rates on non-solar producers by a mere 52%," he said.To prevent the utilities from derailing our State’s renewable energy goals, Senator Kehoe is introducing SB 1527, which is set for hearing in Sacramento on April 24.
April 18, 2012 (Poway) – A woman who was sexually assaulted while walking in Poway shortly after 10 p.m. Monday night managed to kick her assailant and break free. According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the victim was walking on Vaughan Road near Pomerado Road when a man grabbed her and put a knife to her throat.

According to the California Teachers Association, California ranks 46 nationally in per-pupil funding, with over $20 billion cut from public schools and colleges statewide in the last four years. More than 40,000 teachers have been laid off during that same time, yet partisan gridlock has stalled any solution in Sacramento.

April 16, 2012 (Lakeside) – The 48th Annual Lakeside Rodeo will take place at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds. The annual event has been a tradition since the first rodeo was held back in 1920.It encompasses a series of events April 20-22 that celebrate the community’s Wild West heritage.

April 16, 2012 (Dehesa) – San Miguel Fire District’s Engine 23 and its three person crew was the first on the scene of a chimney fire in a home on the 1200 block of Avenida Elisa on April 15 at 10:46 p.m. The fire, which began in the chimney box, quickly moved to the attic.Containing the blaze was problematic because the flames burning in the attic compromised the strength of the roof, according to Leonard Villarreal with the District.The blaze was knocked down in approximately 30 minutes.
Santee Teen receives Miss Teen San Diego Cities Honor
April 16, 2012 (San Diego) -- On Sunday, April 15, 2012 Kayla Ross of Rancho Bernardo was crowned Miss San Diego Cities 2012 while Savannah Keener of Santee was crowned Miss Teen San Diego Cities 2012. Young women from across San Diego County had entered the pageants in hopes of becoming the new city ambassadors. The contestants were scored on personal interview, speech, poise and personality, physical fitness and beauty, evening gown and an on stage impromptu question.

He's a 10 pound, 2 years old sturdy little guy. He is neutered and has all his shots. Another fun little guy! He would love to be the center of your universe! His goal in life is to stay as close to you as he can to his owner. This little guy seems to almost be able to read my mind. He knows what is right and wrong and does everything he can to please his owner.
