May 13, 2017 (Reno) - The San Diego State softball team broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth inning and five more in the seventh en route to a 13-6 victory over Nevada Saturday afternoon in Reno. The win gave the Aztecs (31-18, 15-9 MW) the series and a second-place finish in the final Mountain West standings.

The proceeds from this event provide FREE family activities such as summer concerts, movies in the park, science days and recreational events for kids.  The Foundation is currently raising funds to renovate playgrounds at Vista La Mesa, Collier and La Mesita parks.

May 12, 2017 (San Diego) - The County will host its 18^th annual lawn mower exchange this Saturday, May 13^th at Qualcomm Stadium.  Doors open at 6 a.m.; the event takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. County Supervisor Ron Roberts, pollution control officers, recyclers, Electric Vehicle display sponsored by SDG&E and hundreds of San Diegans lined up with gasoline powered lawnmowers and gardening equipment to be exchanged for new rechargeable mode equipment.

May 12, 2017 (El Cajon) – After inviting the public to submit redistricting maps and hiring a consultant to advise the city as it moves toward district elections instead of citywide elections for all council members, the options have been narrowed to five maps.  Three of the five maps square Councilman Ben Kalasho off against Councilman Gary Kendrick by putting them in the same City Council District.  Four of the five maps put Councilman Bob McClellan and Councilman Steve Goble in the same district.  Below are the maps and descriptions of each proposal.

May 11, 2017 (Cuyamaca) – Debbie Ekhaml shot this beautiful photo of a California gray fox in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.  The gray fox can run up to 28 miles an hour and is the only species of canines in North America that can actually climb trees!

May 11, 2017 (Spring Valley) – A fire that broke out Tuesday night at 8 p.m. has displaced six people.  Cal Fire responded to the blaze on Grand Avenue near Birch Street in Spring Valley, dousing the fire in approximately 15 minutes.
