May 26, 2019 (Lake Morena) – A petition signed by 301 area residents opposed to a Forefront Power’s proposed utility-scale solar energy facility in the Lake Morena area of Campo has been submitted to Supervisor Dianne Jacob this week.

May 26, 2019 (San Diego) - Rep. Duncan D. Hunter told a Ramona audience Saturday that he’s guilty of the same behavior that led to Navy SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher being charged with war crimes — posing with a dead combatant.

May 24, 2019 (Reno) - The San Diego State baseball team fell to Nevada, 6-4, to finish the Mountain West Championships on Friday afternoon at Peccole Park. The Aztecs finish their season with a 32-25 record.

SDSU, which entered the game with a 19-6 record when scoring first, jumped out to a 4-1 lead in thanks to a 2-RBI single by Casey Schmitt in the first inning, a Jacob Maekawa run on a throwing error while stealing third in the fourth, and an Angelo Armenta single to left field scoring Matt Rudick in the fourth.

May 24, 2019 (Lemon Grove) – Trevon Harris, 13, dreamed of becoming an NBA player and played basketball with the Young Bulls, a recreational team in Lemon Grove.  But on May 3, he slipped on gravel outside his home in Lemon Grove and fell into the path of a vehicle, suffering a fatal head injury.

On June 1^st, the Lemon Grove Improvement Council and Coach Mark Horton will hold the first annual Trevon Harris 3-on-3 basketball tournament for players ages 10-14 at the Lemon Grove Rec Center, 3131 School Lane.  Teams are encouraged to sign up at Trevon-Harris.eventbrite.com. There will also be music, food, games and more.

“This charity event will memorialize Trevon who was taken too soon from his family and from our community,” says Teresa Rosiak-Proffit with the Lemon Grove Improvement Council. “The funds raised will allow us to award prizes to the players and we are going to set-up a scholarship/endowment fund so that we can help the youth of our community with the sports needs they may have. If a youth cannot afford to join in on a sport or needs sports equipment they can contact us and we will assist."

May 23, 2019 (Sacramento) - Legislation that would give local school districts more control over charter-school authorizations narrowly passed the California State Assembly Wednesday in a dramatic vote that served as an initial litmus test for a package of consequential, union-backed charter regulation bills.

May 23, 2019 (San Diego) -- Indictments were unsealed this week in San Diego federal court charging 43 members of a methamphetamine distribution network tied to the Sinaloa Cartel with federal drug trafficking and money laundering offenses, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)’s Narcotics Task Force, San Diego Sheriff’s Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced in a joint press conference on Tuesday.

May 23, 2019 (Fallbrook) - Just in time for the 50^th anniversary of Woodstock, an old school bus donated to North County FM station Rez Radio 91.3 by the Bonsall Unified School District is nearing completion of its custom paint job commissioned with students from the Art Department at Fallbrook High School.  As the school year draws to a close, an army of students led by graduating senior, Caiden Metts are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the 60’s hippie-themed work of art.  It’s quite a spectacle. 

The idea came about when Rez Radio changed its call letters early last year to the San Diego heritage call sign, KPRI – now standing for Kupa Pala Rez Indians.  That brought forward a number of people from the air staff of the original KPRI in San Diego when the station first tried free-form FM programming in 1967-68.  Much of that music is still a core element of Rez Radio’s programming.
