PACE PROGRAM LAUNCHES IN SAN DIEGO: BUSINESSES CAN NOW PAY FOR CLEAN ENERGY INVESTMENTS SUCH AS SOLAR VIA PROPERTY TAXES-- WITH NO UP FRONT COSTS

September 19, 2012 (San Diego)—A new state program to help business owners invest in solar and other energy-saving projects with zero up-front costs launched yesterday in San Diego County. 

The Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE) enables commercial property owners to use their properties as collateral for energy upgrades—and to pay off those costs through their property tax bills.

LA MESA FIT BODY BOOT CAMP HOSTS OPEN HOUSE SEPT. 8 TO BENEFIT FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL



September 6, 2012 (La Mesa)--La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp, a program designed to help its clientele achieve fitness and weight management goals in a fun and motivating atmosphere, will host an open house on Saturday September 8 from 4:00--8:00 p.m. The event includes an 80s band and DJ, plus a raffle with all proceeds going to Rady Children’s Hospital.

Talks on fitness and nutrition will be provided, as well as fitness demonstrations, chair massages, fitness games, entertainment and healthy food. Raffle prizes include an iPad2 and a six-month personal training program.

DOLORES CANIZALES TAKES OVER THE REIGNS AT THE POWAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

 
August 4, 2012 (Poway) -- The Poway Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Dolores Canizales has joined the staff at the Chamber as President and CEO. She was identified from a process that drew from extensive networking contacts developed by the Poway Chamber Board. The Board invited applications from suitable individuals from their list of contacts. From a group of 10 vetted finalists and 3 interviewed candidates, Canizales was the unanimous top choice according to Poway Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Jim Crute. Canizales replaces former president Luanne Hulsizer, who resigned in May.

VIP FUNDING NOW AVAILABLE FOR DIESEL TRUCK UPGRADES

July 21, 2012 (San Diego) --  The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District announced the availability of funds from the Carl Moyer Voucher Incentive Program (VIP). The VIP provides a streamlined approach to reduce emissions by installing a Verified Diesel Emission Control Strategy (VDECS or “retrofit”) or by replacing existing, high-polluting vehicles with newer, lower-emission vehicles. Approximately $350,000 from Program Year 14 is currently available for eligible on-road heavy-duty diesel retrofit or replacement projects.

July 13, 2012 (San Diego)--  Local labor leaders organized a thank a superhero worker event for Comic-Con International. Sandy Naranjo and Ben Cisneros of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council came to the front of the convention to ask attendees to celebrate labor, as well as pop culture.
 
Workers were excited to receive appreciation for their labors--and for people to be reminded that it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make an event like Comic-Con International run smoothly.
