July 15, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State head women's soccer coach Mike Friesen announced his team’s 2019 schedule on Monday. The 19-game slate includes 11 regular-season games that will be played on the SDSU Sports Deck, as well as an exhibition match.

Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched six innings and gave up five hits, three runs, (three earned), one walk, struck out five and didn't register the win as the Bucs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5. 
 
Granite Hills' Travis Taijeron went 0 for 1 with a double and an RBI for the Syracuse Mets as they were defeated by the Buffalo Bisons 10-5.

July 12, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego Padres announced today they have agreed to terms with four additional players from the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft prior to today’s deadline: RHP Drake Fellows (6th rd.), LHP Mason Feole (11th rd.), LHP Bodi Rascon (14th rd.) and C Jared Alvarez-Lopez (17th rd.).  In addition, the Padres have also signed Helix alum Jack Stronach (21st rd.)

July 11, 2019 (Seaside, Calif.) - San Diego State men’s golfer Puwit Anupansuebsai fired a collective 7-under-par 209 to win the Bayonet Black Horse Amateur Championship, held July 6-8 in Seaside, Calif.

The Aztec rising junior carded rounds of 70-72-67 to claim the title by four shots over Dominican University (Calif.) graduate Nick Rivera and Houston rising junior Andrew Gibson, both of whom tied for second at 3-under 213, while fellow SDSU teammate Christian Banke landed in the fourth spot with a 2-under 214.

ASC MEN UPSET #1 SEED IN PENALTY KICK SHOOTOUT TO ADVANCE TO WEST REGION SEMIFINALS

July 8, 2019 (San Diego) - ASC San Diego knocked out #1 seed FC Golden State in a dramatic penalty shootout this past Sunday, July 7th to move on to the National Premier Soccer League West Region Semifinals. ASC San Diego faithful who just last week, were cheering on FC Golden State to beat fellow NPSL heavyweights and 3rd place playoff contenders Orange County FC, now found themselves pulling for their defeat in this highly contested rivalry.

ASC MEN'S POSTS TREMENDOUS FINISH TO THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A 6-0 WIN AT HOME

June 25, 2019 (San Diego) -  ASC San Diego celebrated a 6-0 rout over NPSL rivals, the Oxnard Guerreros, at home at Mission Bay Stadium this past Saturday in their final effort to keep their playoff hopes alive in the Southwest Conference. ASC no doubtedly needed a big win which would create a four point cushion over fellow postseason hopefuls Orange County FC heading into the final week.  They did not disappoint.

June 16

Former Valhalla Norseman Greg Garcia went 4 for 4 with with one triple, three singles and four RBIs and two runs scored for the San Diego Padres as they defeated the Colorado Rockies 14-13. 

Former Ramona Bulldog Gage Canning went 1 for 3 with a single with one RBI and scored two runs for the Potomac Nationals as they defeated the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 15-4.

June 22, 2019 (Pittsburgh) - The Padres left San Diego for Pittsburgh yesterday, losing 2-1 to the Pirates.  Chris Paddack started today’s game two against Chris Archer for Pittsburgh.

 

After a slight pitchers’ duel, Manny Machado launched a solo homer in the fourth to left field to give the Padres a 1-0 lead after four.

ASC MEN BACK IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION AFTER STUNNING 6-0 VICTORY OVER CITY OF ANGELS FC

June 10, 2019 (San Diego) - This past Saturday night, Mission Bay Stadium was host to an epic match between ASC San Diego and NPSL newcomers City of Angels FC. It ended with a stunning 6-0 victory for ASC along with three very necessary points in conference standings. Throughout the 2019 season the same four teams (ASC, OCFC, FCAZ, FCGS)  have been battling for seat in the top three positions of the Southwest Conference. With only the smallest of margins separating them there is zero room for error in the few remaining weeks. The race for the NPSL postseason is at critical mass.

June 6, 2019 (Austin) - Aztec pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler earned the silver medal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas Thursday evening. The senior from Wrightstown, Wisc. tied her own school record by clearing 14-09.50 (4.51m). This was the second time this year Draxler has finished as the NCAA runner-up, both times to an Arkansas vaulter.

June 6, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State, in conjunction with the Mountain West, has announced the women's basketball conference schedule for the 2019-20 season.

The conference format will remain the same with each team playing eight of the other 10 teams twice and playing two opponents once with games on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This season, the Aztecs will not play San Jose State at home and will not travel to play at Air Force. This is the seventh season the conference has been organized in this layout.

June 6, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State men’s basketball released the initial version of its Mountain West Conference schedule for the 2019-20 campaign on Thursday; the first phase in the 2019-20 schedule process. For the seventh consecutive year, the format will include 18-games (nine home and nine road games) with each team playing eight opponents twice (home-and-home) and two opponents once.  MW games begin on Dec. 4 and wrap up on Feb. 29.

June 6, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – Former Grossmont Foothiller Joe Musgrove helped lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to victory as the starting pitcher.  He pitched eight innings and gave up five hits, three runs (three earned, one walk) and six strikeouts, moving his record to 4-6 for the season as the Pirates plundered the Atlanta Braves 7-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
