SENATORS URGE STRONGER REGULATION OF CLOSED NUCLEAR PLANTS

May 8, 2014 (San Diego)--California Senator Barbara Boxer and four other U.S. senators have sent a letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission urging that stronger emergency regulations and security steps be taken at closed nuclear power plants where tons of spent radioactive fuel is stored.

VERMONT TO REQUIRE GMO LABELING

May 4, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)-Vermont is poised to become the first state in the nation to enact legislation requiring labeling of products that contain genetically modified organisms, or GMOs.  Governor Pete Shumlin is expected to sign the bill on May 8.

OH DEER: MOTORCYCLIST DIES AFTER STRIKING ANIMAL

May 8, 2014 (Potrero) –Stefan Courtney Lowe, 45, of Potrero was killed in an accident in Dulzura at 4:45 a.m. after he struck a deer that ran out in front of him.
