November 15, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) - This week’s Destination East County includes a Swing with Santa charity golf tournament, live music at La Mesa Wine Works, a meteor shower watching event at Oakoasis Park in Lakeside, and the ever-popular Mother Goose Parade.

Plus we’ll have a preview of coming attractions over the next month including Pomegranate Days at the Oasis Camel Dairy in Ramona, Holiday Lights on Main in El Cajon, holiday hay rides in Santa Ysabel, a Julian Country Christmas, a bonfire and ice skating in Lemon Grove, Lakeside’s Spirit of Christmas on Maine, a Christmas Cabaret, La Mesa’s Holiday in the Village, and the San Diego Festival Chorus and Orchestra’s “Sounds Good” performance of Handel’s Messiah and other holiday favorites.

November 14, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State and the American Red Cross are partnering to play host to the Aztecs for Life Blood Drive, presented by California Coast Credit Union, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Viejas Arena. Multiple SDSU groups and associations have joined forces with the goal of collecting 400 pints of blood during the 10-hour event.

SDSU WATER POLO SIGNS VALHALLA HIGH STANDOUT TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

November 13, 2017 (San Diego) - Valhalla High School girls water polo standout Spencer Samuel has signed a letter of intent to play water polo at San Diego State for the 2018-19 school year.  The utility has been a starter in her three years at VHS and has helped the Norsemen to the CIF Open Division playoffs each season, advancing as far as the semifinals in 2016, after claiming three Grossmont League titles. A scholar-athlete in 2017 in both water polo and swim, the two-time team captain is a multi-year All-American, all-CIF performer and two-time Grossmont League Player of the Year (2016, 2017). Samuel enters her senior season with 253 goals, 148 assists and 261 steals in her career.

SUSPECTED GAS THIEF INJURED AFTER PURSUIT, CRASH IN ALPINE

November 13, 2017 (Alpine) - A suspect who fled from Sheriff’s deputies after allegedly trying to steal gas or tampering with county gas pumps on Tavern Road in Alpine this morning has crashed the Toyota Camry he was driving and wound up air lifted to a trauma center.

November 13, 2017 (San Diego's East County) - When most of us think about Thanksgiving, images of turkey, stuffing and time spent with loved ones typically come to mind, not fire hazards. However, an increased risk of fire is, in fact, a reality of Thanksgiving reminds Fire Chief Sam Digiovanna. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), three times as many home cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving as on a typical day. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of home cooking fires.

Captain Kraig Chiles scored four goals, and Boris Pardo made 12 saves and three key stops in the third period to provide momentum for San Diego.

November 12, 2017 (El Cajon) – A man shot multiple times in El Cajon last night was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Lieutenant Jason Taub.  El Cajon Police responded to calls reporting gunshot noises near 1500 East Washington Avenue around 9:47 p.m.

November 11, 2017 (San Diego) – President Donald Trump told reporters on Air Force One that Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied meddling in the U.S. election-and that Trump believes Putin, The Hill reports.  But now Putin’s aide has denied any such conversation took place – and the head of the C.I.A. says Russia definitely did meddle in the 2016 presidential election.
