April 29, 2018 (San Diego) - Today’s game, win or lose, marked a milestone for SDSU lacrosse as it was the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title game in program history.  The Aztecs had only the Aggies of UC Davis blocking their way to glory.

April 29, 2018 (San Diego) - Shelby Thompson led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run to lift San Diego State to a 3-2 win over Colorado State Sunday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The win gave the Aztecs (16-29, 7-11 MW) the series over the Rams (25-16, 9-9 MW).

The Rams (25-14, 9-7 MW) scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning before being held in check the rest of the game by Aztec (14-29, 5-11 MW) pitcher Marissa Moreno.

April 26, 2018 (Arlington, Texas) - San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny was selected in the first round of the 2018 National Football League Draft on Thursday night by the Seattle Seahawks. Penny, who finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting in his final season in 2017, is SDSU’s first player taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since Kyle Turley in 1998 and ninth first-round pick in program history.

April 24, 2018 (San Diego) - Ashley Henderson has been named the Mountain West Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Henderson took first in the 200 (22.66) and second in the 100 meter dash (11.06) at the highly competitive Mt. SAC Relays last Saturday. Both of Henderson’s times were the second best in the nation over the weekend.

April 24, 2018 (Lakeside) - El Capitan and Helix baseball have produced some outstanding college and MLB recruits and today, we got to see both programs in action at Hostetler Field on the campus of El Capitan High.  The Vaqueros, however, have had a rocky season, going 6-11, but the positive takeaway is that they are .500 (2-2) in the Grossmont League coming into today’s game.  The Highlanders have a decent overall record (12-7), but are strangely winless in league play, going 0-2.  Sophomore Thomas Caneday got the start today for Helix against senior Blake Peyton for El Cap.

April 23, 2018 (El Cajon) - Grossmont boys lacrosse, like most other Grossmont sports, is undefeated in league, sporting a perfect 9-0 while remaining almost flawless overall, going 11-2.  Tonight, they faced a school that ECM Sports doesn’t get to cover as much when league play comes around due to league differences, the Patriots of Patrick Henry, who are just as good, sitting at 3-1 in the Eastern League and 9-6 overall.

April 21, 2018 (Fresno) - The San Diego State softball team was unable to overcome an early deficit in a 5-1 loss to Fresno State Saturday afternoon at Margie Wright Diamond in Fresno, Calif. The Aztecs (14-27, 5-9 MW) and Bulldogs (28-16, 11-3 MW) have now each won one game in the weekend series.
