March 25, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State rowing team competed in five final events Sunday at the 45thannual San Diego Crew Classic at Crown Point Shores on Mission Bay. The Aztec varsity eight boat claimed the Cal Cup with a win in the grand final, while the varsity four ‘B’ nabbed a third-place finish, the varsity four ‘A’ and third varsity eight claimed fourth, and the second varsity eight finished sixth.

The Aztecs now even the weekend series heading into tomorrow’s rubber game and improve to 15-7 (5-2 MW), while the Rebels fall to 20-4 (6-2 MW).

March 23, 2018 (Glendora, Calif.) - No. 21 San Diego State withstood a fourth-quarter rally by T-No. 25 Azusa Pacific and prevailed in overtime, winning, 10-8, at Citrus College. With the victory, the Aztecs improved to 9-12 overall and 2-1 in Golden Coast action. The Cougars, meanwhile, dropped to 12-11 (1-2 GCC).

March 21, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State lost its seventh consecutive dual match Wednesday night after falling to Liberty in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader at Aztec Tennis Center.

Coupled with a 4-2 defeat to visiting Denver earlier in the day, SDSU slips to 2-14 on the year, while the Flames won their second straight, improving to 11-8 on the year.

March 21, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State opened its lengthy homestand in tough fashion Wednesday with a 4-2 loss to Denver in the first match of a doubleheader at Aztec Tennis Center.

With the setback, SDSU (2-13) dropped its sixth decision in a row, as the Pioneers (7-5) captured the early doubles point before claiming three victories in single competition.

Through 20 games, the SDSU baseball team now sits at 14-6 on the year, while CSU Bakersfield falls to 9-13.

March 19, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State rising sophomore forward Jalen McDaniels will declare for the 2018 NBA Draft, but not hire an agent to maintain his college eligibility.

“I think this is a great idea,” Dutcher said. “This allows him to see what the NBA thinks of him and what improvements he can make in his game.”

“After thoughtful consideration with my family, I have decided to enter my name into the 2018 NBA Draft,” McDaniels said. “I will not hire an agent in order to maintain by college eligibility. Testing the waters allows me to get feedback directly from NBA teams.”

March 19, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State infielder Jordan Verdon was named one of nine Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week, it was announced Monday morning

In San Diego State's week, which featured a 3-1 record over four road games, Verdon hit .471 (8-for-17) with six doubles and nine RBI. In each of the four games, Verdon recorded at least two hits, one RBI, and one extra-base hit.

The theme of the night would be the near-misses by the Sockers throughout the game. San Diego, who has not yet made the championship round, has now lost three consecutive MASL semi-finals.

March 17, 2018 (Columbus) - Sophomore swimmer Courtney Vincent and senior diver Alexandra Caplan wrapped up their efforts at the NCAA Championships this weekend.

Caplan, SDSU’s program record holder on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards, collected a 22nd place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 278.40, missing the final round by just 7.05 points. Caplan’s score was the second-best score in the preliminary round by a student-athlete from a non-power 5 conference. Caplan also collected a 35th-place score on the 3-meter board at 282.80.
