They are Americans who have lost their Republic, jobs, homes, businesses, health insurance and all hope because of the greed and corruption of the Robber Barons and their Stooges that have taken over their country.
October 17, 2011 (Alpine) – Rod Hinrichsen snapped this inspiring image at the Alpine Wall of Honor last weekend, when 33 new names of local veterans were added to the monument.
“It shows the reflection of the people that are honoring the reflection of the service that their neighbors gave for this great country, exemplified by a beam of light from God,” observed Hinrichsen, a veteran whose own name is also on the wall.
October 17, 2011 (San Diego)-It is beyond my understanding why politicians of both parties continue to insist the US Constitution requires 60 votes to stop a filibuster and only 51 to pass legislations.
The US Constitution is quite clear- the majority required to pass legislation is only 51 votes. How did the current 60 vote logjam come about?
October 17, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department will present “Aesop’s Fables,” a whimsical production that highlights Aesop’s imaginative fables, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Stagehouse Theatre on campus.
The public is invited to attend the play, and its content is suitable for all ages. Admission cost is $8 per person. All major credit cards are accepted. The box office accepts phone orders and will be open one hour prior to all performances.
October 19, 2011 (Lakeside) – A male body was found in a home in the 11400 block of Rocky Lane in Lakeside yesterday morning. Deputies responded to a call at 10:38 a.m. and requested that the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail respond due to suspicious circumstances at the scene.
October 18, 2011 (La Mesa)-- After 10 years as General Manager of the Helix Water District, Mark Weston announced he will retire on December 30. On Tuesday at 6 p.m., the Board will provide staff with directions on recruiting a replacement. The meeting will be held at 7811 University Avenue in La Mesa.
Oct. 16, 2011– A medical marijuana advocate stricken with scoliosis threatened to jump off an overpass above State Route 163 on Friday night after the U.S. Department of Justice announced plans to raid and shut down hundreds of medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state.

Local Republican Congressmen vote to deny emergency care to save mothers’ lives

October 15, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – The Republican-controlled House this week passed a restrictive measure that would let hospitals refuse to provide an abortion even if urgently needed to save a woman’s life.
“The misnamed Protect Life Act is about allowing women to die if they need an emergency abortion,” said Meghan Rhoad at Human Rights Watch. “It is a vicious attack on women’s rights and on the most basic right to life.”
Local Republicans Duncan Hunter, Brian Bilbray, and Darrell Issa voted for the bill, H.R. 358, while San Diegio Democrats Bob Filner and Susan Davis voted against it.
October 15, 2011 (San Diego) -- United States Attorney Laura E. Duffy announced that Marcos Rodríguez-Perez, one of five individuals charged with being involved in the death of Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agent Robert W. Rosas, Jr., was arraigned today in federal court in San Diego.
Rodríguez-Perez , 22,was arrested by Mexican authorities on April 11, 2011, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico and was extradited from Mexico on October 13, 2011, escorted by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The extradition of Rodríguez-Perez leaves only one suspect involved in the murder of Agent Rosas at large.
October 15, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Cal-Fire has cancelled the no-burn proclamation ordered earlier in the week for areas under state fire jurisdiction in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ban on open burning has been lifted due to improvement in weather conditions including increased humidity and moisture content.
October 15, 2011 (San Diego) -- Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) announced a $790,000 federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services awarded to SAY San Diego for its work with low-income fathers to help them be better dads and husbands. Entitled “Project COMPASS” (Creating Options for Men to Participate Actively, Safely and Supportively), this program serves both civilian and military dads, including the more than 46,000 military personnel in San Diego who are fathers with children. The grant has an option to renew for an additional two years.
Horses of Tir Na Nog adopted three emaciated horses
October 15, 2011 (Spring Valley) --Three severely neglected horses that County Animal Services officers rescued last week during an investigation in Spring Valley have been moved to a nurturing new home.
The horses were adopted by the Horses of Tir Na Nog, a private nonprofit organization in East County dedicated to the care of horses.

October 14, 2011 (La Mesa)—Two Hispanic men of medium build, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and light bandanas over their faces, robbed a man at gunpoint tonight. The victim, 56, reported that he was sitting in his vehicle in the Park and Ride lot near Bancroft Drive and Fuerte Drive when the suspects’ vehicle, a dark four-door sedan, pulled up beside him.
October 15, 2011 (Santee) – Born in San Diego on the 4th of July in 1925, Democratic leader Sarah Lowery passed away on October 5, 2011 of congestive heart failure. Active in politics at the local, state and national levels, the Santee resident was known for her passionate advocacy of civil rights and equality for all individuals. In 2001, the San Diego Democratic Party honored Lowery with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
