April 12, 2019 (Julian-Cuyamaca) - The Julian Cuyamaca Fire Protection District (JCFPD) on Wednesday had hoped that it would get its day in court after the San Diego Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) unanimously voted to dissolve the rural Julian fire and medical emergency district on Monday.

Proceeds will  fund programs that allow children to escape the burden of “cancer kid” label

April 10, 2019 (San Diego) -- On March 23, The Seany Foundation’s 11th Annual Everything is Possible Celebration raised $275,000 to support children and families faced with cancer. 

The $275,000 raised will support The Seany Foundation’s programs that bring happiness and relief to children, siblings and family members struggling with cancer. The camps allow children to escape the burden of a “cancer kid” label and just have fun with other peers who understand what they are going through.

April 5, 2019 (Julian-Cuyamaca) - After nearly two years of controversy, Julian residents voted on Mar. 19 by mail ballot to abolish the 34-year old Julian Cuyamaca Fire Protection District (JCFPD) and replace it with fire and medical emergency services provided by the San Diego Fire Authority and Cal Fire.

April 5, 2019 (San Diego) -- Beginning on March 1, 2019 SDG&E started defaulting its residential ratepayers to a new form of billing for electricity, a time-of-use rate known as “TOUDR1.” They plan to default 700,000 – 1,000,000 ratepayers per month to this time-of-use rate through mid-2020. SDG&E is mandated to provide two notices to ratepayers informing them 30 and 60 days prior to defaulting a customer, providing opportunities for ratepayers to opt out of being defaulted. April 3, 2019 (La Mesa) - La Mesa Police report that at 2 p.m. today,  Conception "Connie" Bibo, 89, was found safe in San Ysidro.

Bibo, who is believed to have pre-dementia and has memory issues. She had been last seen yesterday around 11:30 a..m. leaving her residence in the 6700 block of Alamo Way in tLa Mesa. Hers family returned home at approximately 2:30 p.m. and and discovered Mrs. Bibo and her vehicle (a gray 2013 Hyundai Elantra)were not at the residence.

April 2, 2019 (El Cajon) – Cajon Valley Union School District’s board president Tamara Otero has sent a formal response letter to Californians Aware (CalAware) agreeing to comply with demands in a legal cease and desist order that the watchdog organization had sent the district on East County Magazine’s behalf. The board’s April 30, 2019 meeting will include the compliance issue on the agenda, the letter added.
