May 16, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State men’s and women’s tennis programs will offer youth tennis camps this summer, which will be led by men’s assistant coach Jeff Thomsen and women’s assistant coach Nico Vinel. Two camp weeks will be offered, first from July 22-26 and again from July 29 through August 2, both at the Aztec Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Aztecs are now 2.5 games behind the Bulldogs for first place in the Mountain West with a conference record of 14-10 (30-20 overall). The Bulldogs improve to 31-13-1 with a 16-7-1 league mark while extending their win streak to five.

May 9, 2019 (Logan, Utah) - The San Diego State softball team dropped the series opener, 4-3, to Utah State Thursday afternoon in Logan, Utah.

The Aztecs (24-25, 11-11 MW) had plenty of chances to break open a close game, but left 10 runners on base, going 4-for-17 (.235) with runners on base, 2-for-11 (.182) with runners in scoring position and 1-for-4 (.250) with the bases loaded.

Smith took third with 5,309 points and Absten placed seventh with 4,937 points with both heptathletes setting new personal bests for total points.

May 5, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State baseball team scored all nine of its runs over a three-inning span to defeat San Jose State, 9-7, at Tony Gwynn Stadium on Saturday night. The Aztecs clinch a series win and have a chance of a sweep tomorrow after tonight's victory improved their record to 28-19 (13-9 Mountain West). The Spartans fall to 19-28 (12-11 MW).

May 4, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State downed Fresno State, 3-1, to claim the weekend series Saturday night at SDSU Softball Stadium.

Tied at 1-1, the Aztecs (23-24, 10-10 MW) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away. Kayla Sok replaced Shelby Thompson after a leadoff single, and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kelsey Munoz and a fielding error by Bulldog  (33-17, 11-9 MW) shortstop Vanessa Hernandez. Taylor Adams followed with a grounder to Hernandez, but Sok was able to race home and get under the tag applied by catcher Kelcey Carrasco and put SDSU on top. Kiera Wright then hit a bloop single down the left-field line to plate Janina Jusay with an insurance run.

ARREST MADE IN SDSU SNAPCHAT CASE

May 1, 2019 (San Diego) - On Wednesday, May 1, at 2:35 p.m., a suspect was arrested on allegations of making criminal threats via Snapchat toward a member of San Diego State University’s black community. The suspect, an SDSU student not currently enrolled in classes, was identified by the University Police Department within 48 hours after being notified of the incident. Officers immediately began investigating the incident and worked quickly to identify the suspect based on his description in the video and social media account handle. The suspect has been identified as Martin J. Ruiz.

May 1, 2019 (San Diego) -- Three incidents in the past few weeks have targeted members of the black community at San Diego State University.

 

In March, a group of men yelled a racial slur from a vehicle while passing by the Black Resource Center on campus.  Then in mid-April, the center was vandalized, prompting a rally against racism and requests from student leaders for an alarm system.

April 30, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State rowing varsity four, which includes Helix High School graduate Deborah Worthey, has been named American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This is the first weekly conference honor for an Aztec crew this season and just the third time an SDSU boat has been selected since the program joined the conference in 2014.
