February 28, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State took advantage of a pair of Brigham Young errors in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past the Cougars 2-1 in the first game of the San Diego Classic Thursday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. It was the fourth walk-off win of the season for the Aztecs (9-7) and third victory when trailing heading into the final inning.

February 26, 2019 (Los Angeles) - The San Diego State softball team was unable to come up with the timely hit in a 2-1 loss Tuesday afternoon at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.

The Aztecs (8-7) outhit the Lions (7-5), 5-4, for the game, but were just 1-for-13 (.077) with runners on base and 1-for-7 (.143) with runners in scoring position.

The Aztecs fell to 7-6 on the season, while the Red Raiders improved to 13-0 with their third consecutive shutout at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and fourth straight shutout overall.

February 21, 2019 (Fullerton) - San Diego State was unable to get its offense going in a 5-1 loss at Cal State Fullerton Wednesday in Fullerton, Calif. The Aztecs fell to 6-4 on the season.

SDSU managed only two hits in the game - both by Katie Byrd - off Titan (8-3) pitchers Janelle Rodriguez and Sophie Frost. San Diego State’s other baserunners in the game were Megan Smith (two walks), Kiera Wright (one walk) and Molly Sturdivant (hit by pitch).

February 10, 2019 (Phoenix) - The San Diego State softball team finished its opening weekend with a 9-0 loss to No. 4/4 Oklahoma Sunday at the Grand Canyon University Kickoff Tournament in Phoenix.

The Aztecs (3-2) managed only one hit off Sooner (5-0) pitcher Shannon Saile, a single by West Hills alum Katie Byrd in the top of the first inning. Megan Smith and Molly Sturdivant also drew walks for SDSU.

The Aztecs (3-1) once again used a seventh inning rally to beat Charlotte 5-4 in the opener before falling to the host Lopes (2-2) 9-0 in five innings later in the day.

July 12, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State softball team has added three collegiate transfer pitchers to the program, head coach Kathy Van Wyk announced today. Two of the three - MJ James (Patrick Henry HS/Ohio State) and Hannah Johnson (La Habra HS/Cal State Fullerton) - were on teams that made the 2018 NCAA tournament, while Alicia Garcia (Mira Mesa HS) starred at nearby Palomar College.

May 15, 2018 (El Cajon) - CIF playoffs for softball have started and today, ECM Sports traveled to Valhalla High for a Division II matchup between the Norsemen (women, for our politically correct readers…) and the Centurions of University City.  The Norsemen were undefeated in the Grossmont League with an 8-0 record.  The Centurions struggled a bit this season, finishing 3-5 in the City - Western League, but still made it to the playoffs thanks to their 14-12 overall record.  Junior Delaney Stettler started on the hill for the Norsemen against senior Natalie Minteer for University City.

The Aztecs dropped to 16-30 and 7-12 in Mountain West play with the loss, while the Lobos improved to 13-35 and 6-13.

April 13, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State was unable to contain Nevada’s bats in a 10-8 loss in eight innings in the series opener Friday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs dropped to 12-25 overall and 3-7 in Mountain West play, while the Wolf Pack improved to 18-17 and 7-5.

April 10, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State’s Alex Formby has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the second weekly award by Formby this year and the fourth of her career.
