February 11, 2018 (San Diego) - No. 18 San Diego State had trouble with 10th-ranked UC Davis’ physicality in the first half and dug itself too big of a hole in a 13-8 loss in the fifth-place game Sunday afternoon at the Triton Invitational in nearby La Jolla. SDSU fell to 4-4 on the season, while UCD improved to 7-5.

The Aztecs dropped to 1-5 on the season with their third straight loss, while the Aggies improved to 3-2.

February 11, 2018 (Alberquerque) - Bonnie Draxler tied the school record in the pole vault, clearing 14-01.25 (4.30m) as the Aztecs wrapped up the Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Ashley Henderson also had another strong performance, finishing the 60-meter dash in 7.19 seconds, just 0.02 seconds off her school record set last year.

February 10, 2018 (San Diego) - After a heartbreaker Wednesday afternoon against Fresno State, the lady Aztecs took to Steve Fisher Court again this afternoon to try again in a matinee against Nevada in the “Pink Game” for Play4Kay Day at Viejas Arena.  The lady Wolf Pack are a vastly different team than the Bulldogs; seventh in the Mountain West and in a slump; 11-11 overall and 4-7 in league.

February 10, 2018 (Gangneung, South Korea) - The opening ceremony may have just ended, but Maame Biney was just getting started.

The 18-year-old, born in Ghana but now residing in Reston, Virginia, beat out China's Kexin Fan to advance to the semifinals in the women's 500-meter speed skating competition.

February 10, 2018 (Ramona) – Chris Knierim, a former Ramona resident, along with his wife and pair-skating partner Alexa Scimeca-Knierim, skated a nearly flawless short program during the first day of the team ice skating competition at the Olympic winter games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The duo nailed their triple twist and thrown jump, skating with exuberance and sheer joy to propel the U.S. into second place thus far, after much-heralded singles skater Nathan Chen had a rare botched performance with a fall and an invalid element.

Kraig Chiles had a hat-trick, and Brandon Escoto, Brian Farber, and Erick Tovar paced San Diego with two goals each. Luan Oliveira also found the back of the net.

Including the 17 that signed in the first-ever class during the early signing period from Dec. 20-22, a total of 24 athletes will join the Aztecs for the 2018 season.

February 6, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State will send four football players to the NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp) in Indianapolis from Feb. 27-March 5, the NFL announced today. Fullback Nick Bawden, defensive back Kameron Kelly, running back Rashaad Penny and tight end David Wells each will attend the camp, which will be scouted by top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams.
