September 18, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State senior captains Rashaad Penny (Norwalk, Calif.) and Kameron Kelly (Murphy, Texas) have each been named Mountain West Players of the Week, the league announced Monday. Penny was chosen as the MW Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, while Kelly was chosen as the MW Defensive Player of the Week for the first time of his career.

September 16, 2017 (Denver) - The San Diego State volleyball team posted two victories on Saturday at the Denver Invitational, defeating Gonzaga in a 3-2 nail-biter (25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 21-25, 15-10), before knocking off the host Pioneers by a 3-1 count (20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 28-26) at Hamilton Gymnasium.

September 15, 2017 (Spring Valley) - ECM Friday Night Lights stuck around Spring Valley this week to see the Matadors of Mount Miguel square off against a school we don’t get to report on often:  the Wolf Pack of West Hills High.  The kids from Santee left their blue turf this week with a 2-1 record on the young season.  The Matadors are improving, but still in the loss column at 1-2.

September 11, 2017 (San Diego) - The San Diego State football team swept the Mountain West weekly awards after a 30-20 victory at Arizona State on Saturday, the league announced Monday. Senior Rashaad Penny (Norwalk, Calif.) became the first player in MW history to win two of the three awards in a single week, capturing both the offensive and special teams award, while junior Noble Hall (Las Vegas) picked up the MW Defensive Player-of-the-Week award.

September 10, 2017 (San Diego) - The San Diego State men’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Utah Valley on Sunday night to conclude the 2017 Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Tournament.

Utah Valley’s Gui Leme posted the only goal of the match, capitalizing on an unassisted opportunity by pushing a shot into the bottom left corner of the net for a 1-0 Wolverines advantage.

September 10, 2017 (Phoenix) - If the Padres were teenage boys, last night, they’d have bought tons of alcohol and partied and they’d have earned it after their ninth inning rally that helped them topped the snakes 8-7 and win the series regardless of what happened today.  A sweep would be pretty nice, though, and the Padres went for it today with Luis Perdomo on the mound against Robbie Ray for the Dbacks.

He became the first Aztec to ever win the Walter Camp Offensive Player-of-the-Week award and the second on either side of the ball (also linebacker Calvin Munson on Sept. 6, 2015).

September 10, 2017 (Tempe, Ariz.) - Rashaad Penny accounted for 353 all-purpose yards and scored three different ways, leading San Diego State to a convincing 30-20 victory over Arizona State on Saturday night.

The run-heavy Aztecs (2-0) rolled over the Sun Devils from the start, with Penny bursting through for a 95-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

September 9, 2017 (San Diego) - The San Diego State volleyball team won consecutive matches for the first time this season on Saturday after defeating Long Beach State 3-2 in a five-set thriller (14-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 15-3), followed by a 3-0 conquest of Pacific (25-19, 25-17, 25-22) to close out the JLABS Challenge at Aztec Court. With the victories, SDSU raises its record to 4-5 on the season.

September 8, 2017 (San Diego) - The San Diego State volleyball team dropped its second in a row on Friday, suffering a three-set defeat at the hands of visiting Loyola Marymount (19-25, 23-25, 22-25) in the opener of the JLABS Challenge at Aztec Court.  With the setback SDSU slips to 2-5 on the year, while the Lions move to 5-3 overall.
